Who we are

Portsmouth CDA incorporates:

  • PORTAS Outreach and Treatment Access
  • GLOW LGBT Outreach & Support Service
  • Engage Volunteer & ETE Service

What we do

We provide a comprehensive range of services in the Portsmouth area that work in partnership with other local services to help people into, through and out of drug and alcohol treatment services. We provide a first point of contact for treatment services in the city and undertake assessments in a flexible, customer oriented way.

Key service principles involve self-determinacy and choice for group members and our day services are modular, allowing group members to create their own package of care, that changes with their needs as they progress through services. We aim to raise self-efficacy, increase motivation and assist people in making informed choices.

Group members contribute to the running of services and participate in consultative forums. As well as groups focused on motivation, relapse prevention and personal development our services present a range of sports activities, complimentary therapies and volunteering opportunities.

Who is it for

Any adult aged (18+) resident or homeless person in Portsmouth City with a Drug or Alcohol problem.

For our Needle Exchange Service this would include people who have no desire to change their drug use, only to do so more safely.

For R-club and Engage members must be drug and alcohol free on the day of attendance.

We have specific sessions that are Women only and have a Men’s Support group. Our PORTAS service aims to provide additional support to people who have difficulty accessing services for whatever reason.

Our GLOW project works specifically with drug & alcohol users who identify as Lesbian, Gay Bisexual or Transgender or are questioning their sexuality. The service will assist people in accessing services but also provide support to those that do not wish to use mainstream services.

Confidentiality
