This is an exciting opportunity to become a part of our high performing integrated community drug and alcohol service in the London Borough of Sutton. You will be our dedicated Family/ Carer’s Worker providing support and interventions to family members and carers of those who are misusing substances.

Families and carers play an important role in supporting people close to them in their recovery from drugs or alcohol. However, they often struggle to get the support they themselves need. As well as physical and psychological stress, families and carers can be left to deal with stigma and shame from society and often feel anxious, frustrated and alone.

We provide a service for residents of the London Borough of Sutton, offering care and support to families and carers of those experiencing difficulties with alcohol and drug misuse or addiction.

Your core activities will be coordinating and providing a group and education programme for family members and carers, including peer support groups, psychoeducation sessions and potentially arts/ creative sessions. You will also provide one-to-one support to clients as appropriate. As well as running these core sessions, you will also have the opportunity to introduce new group and therapy interventions depending on your skills and the interests of our clients.

Experience of working with family and carers is essential, with direct work with drug and alcohol misuse being highly desirable. You will be a competent communicator and group facilitator, with the ability to work independently.  A recognised qualification, and practice, in counselling, would be advantageous.

In order to provide an accessible service to our service users, some evening working will be required.
